Anele Mdoda​

Television presenter & radio personality

In radio, she has worked as a DJ for South Africa’s most popular commercial radio stations such as 5FM and 947, where she currently presents the 947 “Breakfast Club with Anele”.​

Anele’s television presenting career began in 2009 when she co-hosted the reality TV show “SA’s Got Talent”, (based on the British “Got Talent” format). In 2011, Anele co-presented the SABC magazine, lifestyle and television series “TV to the POWER of 5”. In 2014, Anele presented the docu-reality series “Dream School SA” which was broadcast on M-Net. In the same year she co-presented the SABC 3 talk show “Tongue In Cheek”. From 2016 to mid-2018, Anele presented her own daily talk-show “Real Talk With Anele” on SABC 3. She recorded close to 400 episodes over 4 seasons. This show won a South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA) in 2017 for Best Talk Show. ​

Anele has featured as a judge on several platforms, including Mzansi Magic’s Clash of the Choirs and multiple Miss South Africa Pageants. She has also interviewed the likes of Trevor Noah in his New York studio, Taraji P Henson, Terence Howard, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran, to name a few.​

Cas Coovadia​

Sherpa, B20 South Africa​

Cas Coovadia is the outgoing CEO of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), having served in this role since April 2020. He previously spent 15 years as Managing Director of The Banking Association South Africa (BASA), where he established the organisation as a leading voice for the banking sector. ​

Cas has a long history of activism and public service. In the 1980s and 1990s, he played a pivotal role in South Africa’s civic movement and the United Democratic Front, leading negotiations on restructuring local government during the country’s transition to democracy. He also co-founded the South African National Civic Organisation and served as its Vice-President.

Nonkululeko Nyembezi​

Co-Chair, B20 South Africa

Nonkululeko Nyembezi is a seasoned business leader and current Chairman of the Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) board, as well as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Standard Bank Group and Standard Bank South Africa. ​

Her illustrious career includes serving as CEO of Ichor Coal N.V. and ArcelorMittal South Africa, the largest steel producer on the African continent. Nonkululeko has also chaired the boards of Alexander Forbes Group and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and is currently a Non-Executive Director of Anglo-American Plc and Chairman of Macsteel Service Centres South Africa. ​

In addition to her corporate roles, she serves as a non-executive director of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and is a trustee of the Quartet of Peace Trust, Partners for Possibility, and The Norval Foundation.

Busi Mavuso

Local Business Advisory Council Co-Chair, B20 South Africa

Busisiwe Mavuso is the CEO of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA), a role she has held since July 2019. Before this, she was the organisation’s Chief Operations Officer and previously served as Managing Director of the Black Management Forum (BMF). ​

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Busisiwe has worked across various industries, including banking, telecoms, consulting, and healthcare. She serves on the boards of Business Unity South Africa, Resultant Finance, and BMF Investments, and is a Visiting Adjunct Professor at the Wits Business School. She also contributes to national initiatives as a member of the Human Resources Development Council and other advisory councils. ​

She is a prominent advocate for inclusive socio-economic growth, transformation, and people development.

Khulekani Mathe

Local Business Advisory Council Co-Chair, B20 South Africa | CEO, BUSA

Khulekani Mathe is the CEO of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA). Since joining BUSA in February 2023, he served as Deputy CEO, overseeing operations, policy coordination, and strategic stakeholder engagement. ​

Previously, Khulekani was Head of Financial Inclusion at The Banking Association South Africa, focusing on transformation, small business development, and financial education. He also held senior roles in government, contributing to the National Development Plan as Head of the National Planning Commission Secretariat. ​

Khulekani’s early career was in education, where he led Tembaletu Community Education Centre to multiple national and international awards. ​

A passionate long-distance runner, Khulekani has completed the Comrades Marathon nine times.

Nozipho Tshabalala​

CEO, The Conversation Strategists

Nozipho Tshabalala is the CEO of the Conversation Strategists, where she moderates global conversations that are designed to have measurable outcomes. She is known as the go-to moderator for presidential and high-level panel conversations globally. She has moderated conversations for global bodies including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the International Labour Organisation, the United Nations, the African Union, governments and multinationals around the world.​

Nozipho is also an award-winning financial markets broadcaster lifting the African business story through the lens of leadership, performance, the political economy, development finance, gender mainstreaming, and youth development. ​

In 2019, Nozipho was named among the 2019 100 Most Influential Young Africans.

Mxolisi Mgojo

Co-Chair, B20 South Africa

Mxolisi Mgojo is the President of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and has a distinguished career spanning over four decades across multiple industries. He began his professional journey as a software engineer, spending a decade in the technology sector, followed by eight years in investment banking, including roles at Société Générale Investment Banking. ​

Since 2001, Mxolisi has been deeply involved in the mining industry, holding key leadership positions. Mxolisi has also served as President of the Minerals Council South Africa (2017–2021) and held board roles with organisations including Exxaro Resources, Tronox Limited, and the Sishen Iron Ore Company.​

His leadership contributions have been widely recognised; he was inducted into the SA Mining Hall of Fame in 2022, and awarded the All Africa Business Leaders Award as Business Leader of the Year in 2022.

Cas Coovadia​

Sherpa, B20 South Africa

Sarp Kalkan

Sherpa, B20 Türkiye

Sarp Kalkan is the Deputy Secretary General at the Turkey Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB). At the TOBB, Kalkan as the Chief Policy Officer, is responsible for aligning the organization’s overall policy priorities and advocacy efforts. He oversees and coordinates several major policy divisions within the TOBB to find better policy solutions for the Turkish business community. Moreover, TOBB’s strategic initiatives and projects are also under his leadership. ​

Before assuming this role, Kalkan served as the B20 Sherpa during Turkey’s G20 Presidency. He was responsible for overall coordination of G20 business communities of around 500 MNEs and more than 1000 national champions through the thematic taskforces, and organisation of B20 events and advocacy efforts. He also supplied basic orientation for the B20 recommendations and oversee the process of preparing policy papers. ​

Prior to his current position, Kalkan served for more than 10 years as the senior policy adviser to the TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and policy analyst at TEPAV, premier economic policy think-tank in Turkey. ​

Constanza Negri​

Sherpa, B20 Brasil​

With more than 15 years of experience in the private sector in the areas of public policy and government relations, Constanza Negri manages the International Trade and Integration area at CNI. She is also the sherpa of B20 Brasil, responsible for coordinating the business forum’s Secretariat and preparing the defence of the group’s political recommendations, in addition to supporting the forum’s president, Dan Ioschpe. ​

Negri was deputy director and head of Trade Policy at the Department of International Affairs at Eurochambres, in Brussels, and served as a senior advisor at the EU-Latin America Observatory and at the WTO International Chair for Regional Integration, at the University of Barcelona. She has a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Bologna, an advanced diploma in European Studies from the European College of Parma and a postgraduate degree in International Economic Relations-Regional Integration from the University of Barcelona.

Børge Brende​

President & CEO, World Economic Forum​

Børge Brende is President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. He has served as Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Minister of Climate and the Environment, and he was Deputy Chairman of the Norwegian Conservative Party as well as MP. He was full-time city councillor in his hometown of Trondheim. ​

He was Chairman of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development and Secretary-General of the Norwegian Red Cross. He was Board Member of Statoil and the Norwegian School of Economics. He was Chair of Mesta, Norway’s largest contracting group in road and highway maintenance. ​

He is currently a Director of the Philanthropy Asia Alliance. Member of the Advisory Council, Harvard International Negotiation Program, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), the Strategic Committee of Sciences Po, and is on the Board of the Bilderberg Meeting. He is a Member of UN Food Systems Advisory Board.​

Susan M. Lund​

Vice President Economics & Private Sector Development, International Finance Corporation

Susan M. Lund is IFC’s Vice President for Economics and Private Sector Development. She leads a global team that provides economic and analytical support to IFC investments and private capital mobilization. Specific responsibilities of her vice presidency include assessing the development impact of IFC investments, conducting economic research on issues related to private sector development, deploying blended concessional finance to de-risk private sector investments, and leading IFC efforts to build strategic relationships with public and private sector entities, including governments, international organizations, civil society, foundations, and other key development partners. ​

Prior to joining IFC, Ms. Lund was a partner at McKinsey & Company and leader of the McKinsey Global Institute. In that role, she served as an active research economist and an advisor to companies and policymakers around the world. Her published research has focused on the evolution of globalization in a digital era, digital finance and mobile money for developing countries, growth prospects for African economies, and global financial market development.

Strive Masiyiwa

Founder & Executive Chairman, Econet Group​

Strive Masiyiwa is a telecommunications and technology entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. In his nearly four decades as an entrepreneur, he has started and invested in businesses throughout the world including Africa, the European Union, India, Latin America, the Middle East, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA.​

Some of his most prominent start-up companies and investments include Mascom Wireless Botswana, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, Econet Wireless Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), Liquid Intelligent Technologies Group, Econet Wireless New Zealand (now 2 Degrees Mobile), Trilogy Capital Partners Canada (early investor), Cassava Technologies, Africa Data Centres, and Sasai Fintech. He continues to invest privately through his investment companies, and family office.​

Strive also sits on numerous international boards, advisory councils, commissions, and has helped establish several philanthropic organisations and initiatives.

Parks Tau​

Minister of Trade, Industry & Competition, Republic of South Africa

Minister Parks Tau is the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition in South Africa. He is the former Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and a former Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development in the Gauteng Provincial Government. He is also a former Provincial Treasurer of the African National Congress in Gauteng and former chairperson of the Gauteng Legislature Portfolio Committee on Finance.​

Minister Tau is a seasoned local government practitioner. He is a former councillor in the Johannesburg Metro and the second democratically elected Mayor of the City of Johannesburg. Minister Tau has served in multilateral organisations as a public representative. He was appointed co-chairperson of the UN High-Level Independent Panel, established to oversee the effectiveness of the UN-Habitat programme. He is also the Former deputy chairperson of the UN Special Advisory Committee on Safer Cities.

Ahunna Eziakonw

Assistant Secretary-General & Director, UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa​

Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa officially began her role as UNDP’s Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa on August 15th, 2018. In this role she leads UNDP’s work supporting 46 countries in Africa to achieve Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.​

Prior to taking up this post, Ms. Eziakon­wa was UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative and UN Humanitarian Coor­dinator in Ethiopia (2015-2018), UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Uganda (2012-2015), and before that held the same position in Lesotho (2008-2012). She has also worked as Chief of the Africa Section for Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) where she managed over 15 country operations in Africa. Before joining the United Nations, Ms. Eziakonwa held a series of senior positions with civil society organisations in Africa.​

Ms. Eziakonwa is personally passionate about broadening the space for engaging youth and women in sustainable development.

John W.H Denton​

Secretary General, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

John W.H. Denton AO is a global business leader and international advisor on policy and a legal expert on international trade and investment.​

John is a founding member of the Business 20 (B20), of which he co-chairs the Finance and Infrastructure Task Force; Co-founder of the Australia–China CEO Roundtable; and Patron of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Australia. In 2024, he was appointed Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of Business Interlocutors of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4). In 2022, he was appointed by the United Nations (UN) Secretary General to represent the global private sector on the Steering Committee of the UN Global Crisis Response Group on Food, Energy and Finance.​

John serves on World Trade Organization (WTO) Director General’s Business Advisory Group and the World Health Organization (WHO) Foundation Strategic Advisory Group, among others. He is also a member of the Global Leadership Council of UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited (GenU).

Renate Hornung-Draus​

Vice President to the International labour Organisation, International Organisation of Employers

Renate Hornung-Draus is Managing Director for Economic and International Affairs of the Confederation of German Employers (BDA). This includes on the one hand representing the employers’ views vis-à-vis the relevant national, European and international institutions, as well as within international organisations and fora (ILO, OECD, UNHCHR, G7/B7, G20/B20), and on the other hand providing advice and services to member organisations and companies on economic and international issues. ​

Renate holds many honorary functions in international, academic and business organisations. She serves among others as Vice-Chair of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and as Co-Chair of the B20 Future of Work and Education Task Force. ​

She is Vice-President to the ILO of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE); Chair of Business at OECD – BIAC’s Employment, Labour and Social Affairs Committee (ELSAC), Board member of the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG), Founding and Board member of the German-Chinese Labour Law Association and Advisory Board member of the Birmingham Business School, among others.

Goolam is the chief economist and head of research for the Standard Bank Group.​

Goolam’s interest spans politics, the macroeconomy and financial markets, and he regularly engages in public dialogue across the globe.​

Nicole Roos

Chairperson & Managing Director, Nestlé South Africa, East & Southern Africa Region

Nicole Roos was appointed as the Chairperson & Managing Director for Nestlé (South Africa) (Pty) Limited, East and Southern Africa Region, effective 1 November 2022, a region comprising of 23 countries. Nicole began her career with Nestlé over 20 years ago as a Marketing Trainee.​

Since then, she has held various positions, from Brand Manager of the former Eastern African Region (2002 to 2006) and Category Marketing Manager of the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (2006 to 2008), before expatriation to the United States market as the Category Marketing Manager for Gerber when it was acquired in 2008. She returned to South Africa as Country Business Manager Infant Nutrition in 2010, an executive leadership position she held for 6 years.​

Prior to assuming the Chairperson & Managing Director position, Nicole was the Business Executive Officer for Coffee and Beverages (2016 to 2022). She grew the business into one of the most successful in the Zone, despite the challenges of operating across multiple Markets which are very different to each other.​

Nicole’s passion lies in developing young talent, advancing inclusivity in the workplace, circularity and sustainability across the value stream and of course digital transformation.​

Andrew Kirby

Chair, Industrial Transformation & Innovation Task Force | CEO, Toyota SA

Andrew is the Chairman of the Toyota South Africa Board (TSA) and Toyota South Africa Motors Board (TSAM). Andrew also serves as a Director on the Toyota Financial Services South Africa Board (TFS) and KINTO South Africa Board. He also served as the President of naamsa1 in 2018 – 2019 and in 2020. He is also serving as the Vice President of the AAAM2. ​

Andrew began his career as a Mechanical Engineer at Anglo America to pursue engineering in the Gold Mining Industry. After gaining his Professional Engineer qualification, he joined BMW South Africa in the Motor Industry in the Service Division, gaining experience in service, parts and retail operations along with valuable insight into the challenges and value of re-engineering and change management projects. Andrew went on to join Toyota in 2005 as Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, managing the Toyota, Lexus, and Hino brands​

Prior to his appointment as President and CEO of Toyota SA in April 2016, Andrew’s global career spun across various geographies, including North America, Japan, and South Africa.​

Daniel Mminele​

Chair, Energy Mix & Just Transition Task Force | Board Chair, Nedbank

Board chair at Nedbank, a South African financial services group offering a wide range of wholesale, retail banking, insurance, asset management and wealth management services. Daniel spent 20 years at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), where he served as the Deputy Governor from 2009 to 2019​​

Busi Mabuza

Chair, Trade & Investment Task Force | Chair, Industrial Development Corporation

Busi Mabuza is the Board chairperson of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa; which is the largest national development finance institution in sub-Saharan Africa. Ms Mabuza also serves as the Chairperson of the SA Chapter of the BRICS Business Council.​

Prior to her appointment as the IDC Board chairperson, Ms Mabuza served as a Non-executive director on several corporate boards. She’s a respected business leader whose prior professional experience in asset management and private equity is reflected in her passionate service to private sector and government led initiatives aimed at transforming South Africa’s economic and social landscape. ​

Currently, Mildred holds the position of Head, Public Affairs , Science, & Sustainability for Africa. Sim Tshabalala

Sim was born in Hlabisa, in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and grew up in Soweto.​

Having held several executive roles within Standard Bank, Sim was appointed joint Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group, in 2013, extending his responsibilities to the banking businesses in Africa beyond South Africa and to the Group’s Wealth businesses. In September 2017, Sim was appointed as the sole Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group.​

Among other non-executive responsibilities, Sim has served on the Boards of the Liberty Group; Standard Bank’s subsidiary in Nigeria, Stanbic IBTC; the Banking Association of South Africa, including as Chairman; the Board and Council of Business Leadership South Africa; and the board of the International Monetary Conference.
